WHAT WE HAVE READ:
Sold on a Monday by Kristina McMorris. The quest for recognition collides with the pull of friendship, love and most importantly making things right.
Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr. A complex book with not just multiple characters and timelines. I enjoyed this book enough that I am keeping it for the ride to give to my sister.
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
Rapture by Nick Nurse. Far more than a book about basketball. Lessons about leadership, communication and the lost art of studying to become a master. MUST read if you are a Raptor’s fan, or any fan of leadership and sports.
Under an Afghan Sky by Melissa Fung. A perfectly timed reminder that our current ‘captivity’ in Trail BC is so full of freedom and luxury in comparison to so many others. A true story of grit and determination.
See Me by Nicholas Sparks
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Surprisingly resilient character who both kept our attention and earned our admiration. We would also suggest the characters courage to survive and learn to read/write/love/trust shows us that anything is possible
Educated by Tara Westover
The invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd (also wrote The Secret Life of Bees). This book is about a young white girl who is gifted a slave girl of the same age and their life journey. It takes place in Charleston and is excellent
Run Rose Run by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. I really enjoyed this one. In fact this book has a soundtrack as Dolly wrote all the songs in the book (duh of course she did..)
Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult. Not a bad read, but not one of her best
Virus by Robin Cook. I love his writing and this one didn’t disappoint. It was an easy read, but going through COVID still, it is a little unnerving.
Educated by Tara Westover. It is a must read, just sayin
